Dr. Rivera, Director of Peripheral Nerve Surgery at Essex Surgical Arts Surgery Center, is a graduate of Farleigh Dickinson University,
where he received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Dr. Rivera earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Ambulatory Foot and Ankle Surgery.

In 2002, he was trained in the Dellon Techniques for Nerve Surgery by A. Lee Dellon, M.D. at the Dellon Institutes of Peripheral Nerve Surgery in Baltimore.

He is Board eligible in Podiatric Orthopedics.

Dr. Rivera was trained in Microsurgical Techniques at Columbia University and is a clinical Instructor in Orthopedics at the Mount Sinai Medical Center of New York. Dr. Rivera has taught and performed surgery for the needy in Mexico and Spain. He is bilingual and he speaks and writes in English and Spanish fluently. Dr. Rivera maintains his private practice in Manhattan, New York City.  

Dr. Rivera is a member of The Association of Extremity Nerve Surgeons.
